Why video on apparel product pages (Kumar & Tan 2015)
In a field experiment at a fashion retailer, product videos with a human model raised that product's sales by 14.5% (Kumar & Tan, "The Demand Effects of Joint Product Advertising in Online Videos," Management Science 61(8):1921–1937, 2015).
In those videos a human model walks, wearing the apparel with matching accessories. Sales of the matching accessories rose 28.3%. The lift went away when the videos were removed. The measure was that product's sales at that retailer. The study did not test a mannequin, and it did not test generated video.
Upload a photo and pick a template
The photo you upload is what moves. Checkout asks for that photo and one template: a small turn, a hero reveal, the piece in use, an unboxing, or a close pass across the fabric. The template is the move.
